Review of Relevant Literature Point of Discussion

Attitude Change and Media

Rogers shown that in many respect deep-rooted attitudes cannot be easily changed by simply Exposing the audience to modern media only new paralyze and principles, which do not run in line with established or accepted tradition and customs may be easily accepted generally the media need to be reinforced by interpersonal channels in order to elicit the desired reactions.

There is an evidenced based on the investigation media that individuals, once they are exposed to information, they changes their views differently, each in the light of his mown prior attitude. Agbola, Tunde and Adegoke, S.A. 2007 in an attitude test on information, campaign result concluded that people seek information which is congenial with their prior attitudes. They discover that merely giving information to audience does not necessarily influence their attitude if the information continues to flows from publics who are already predisposed to accepting it condiment it might end up without change the attitude. Thus it can be seen that when ever attempt have been mode to change attitudes and behavior through mass communication researcher have found that the act as a contributory agent to change.

Considering a lots of studies done in different field it has proved that public reaction different to a problem than a pressure group information does not necessarily change attitude per say. Different media are effective, is different easy and at different point the media only create awareness while face to face communication brings about change but both are complementing however Engel et al (as in Tubs and Moss) observed that when the use is large it is usually to accept the inefficiency of the media. The implicit meaning is the large it is usually to accept the inefficiency of the media. The implicit meaning is the identification of the attitude and the motivational structure of the youth as well as group influence as a crucial factor in the success and failure of communication messages.

When the need for information dissemination cropped the Nigeria society, it was like a babbling target and specialized audience, it is clear that health matter cannot be effectively discussed without recognizing, it contribution to some people from health hazards.

The media (eg) NTA through her primary health programmes has educate on health and life of the people even without payment, through management of environment health.

CHAPTER THREE

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Research Method

Every research work makes use of different methods. However there are times when two or more topics may have the same type of research methods. Also for every given topic there can be up to two  research methods but one of it must be very appropriate among those available. (survey, experimental and historical etc).

For this topic, we close the survey methods here questionnaire are given out to the respondents who fill and return the said questionnaire and the interview method in this  questions are asked to the respondent like media report such as  Walter Nnaji, the Managing Director News and Currents Affairs NTA in both case as outline above, the questions that re asked to the respondents are tailored in such a way that answers to them would lead to having the necessary data needed for the research work.

We adopt the survey method of research in order to obtain a clear objectives, balanced and reliable result for a research oriented work. This method in additions is very useful for a research work. This method in additions its very useful for a research work involve a large population. This method was used because of it naturalistic method of extracting information from people about their feeling and opinion on health issues, which this study needed for valid  and reliable data.
