Chapter One

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

   The purpose of this study includes

  1. To determine the problem facing the establishment of computer education centres in rural areas
  2. To examine the problem and prospect of computer education centres in rural areas.
  3. To analyze the economic importance of computer education centres in rural areas
  4. To provide possible solutions to the identified problem facing the location of computer education centres in Egor

CHAPTER TWO

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

In this chapter, the researcher intends to look into computer education centres from various perspective and to acquaint the reader with what various writers have contributed to the development of computer education centres at the local and national level and their opinion and suggestion towards the solving of computer education centres problem in the rural area end its effect to the populace

MEANING OF COMPUTER EDUCATION CENTRES

According to Ohonba A.A see computer as an electronic device (machine) that can process data. Computer system is capable of accepting input data (unprocessed data) through an input device, store and process the data and place processed data (information) on the output device generally called output.

Also According to Awoyale E.O and Dennis Jarrett: A computer is a fast rule follower, an Idiot machine with the ability to remember things.

According to Dewey (1900) define education as the continuous reconstruction or in reorganization of experience which adds haly to the meaning of experience and which increase the ability to direct the course of subsequent experience

Also Fasanya (1985) describe education as a method of learning people out of ignorance

The broad meaning computer education centres

According to Onuodafin A.N. Abayomi T.O Iyekekpolor A.E see compter education centres as an educational institution either by the teacher, student or both. Through manual labour, are programmed using computer. Computer are not only used as part of a specialist study in universities but also an extremely versatile tool aiding the understanding of a wide variety of other subjects. In most advanced countries, lectures are computerized whereby every classroom has a television screen, light pen and teletype connected directly to a computer. The machine is used purely for revision and present question, which might be of the Yes/No type where the pupils point with the light per to the answer, which he believes to be corrected. Computer can also be used in education to mark multiple choice examination papers and to process examination result and timetable.

 

CHAPTER THREE

METHODOLOGY

This chapter deals with the method of study. The instrument that was used for the data collection, sampling procedure and the method of data analyses

POPULATION OF THE STUDY

The study population is the operators of computer education centres in Edo State.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

The research covers areas with a large number of computer education centres in Uselu, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

A sample of specific location was chosen for the purpose of this research and questionnaires presented to each computer education centres involved.

CHAPTER FOUR

ANALYSIS OF DATA/INTERPRETATION

In this chapter, the process used in the collection of relevant data from the field would be discussed with references to table of analysis. The table is analyzed below with an aim of answering the question raised in the course of study. That is, the problem facing location in computer education centres in rural areas: a case4 study of Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

CHAPTER FIVE

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

SUMMARY

The purpose of this research was to look into the problem facing location of computer education centres in rural areas. The main source of data collection were through questionnaires that were administered to selected computer education centres are residents in this community for a long time and as such will be able to give adequate responses to the questionnaires.

In the light of the above, the following problems outlined below are the major problem militating against computer education centres location ion rhe area.

  1. Inadequate credit facilities
  2. Inadequate of electricity supply
  3. Unemployment in the rural areas due to the rural urban migration.
  4. Inadequate land for infrastructures.

From the findings it seen that the state and the Federal Government have neglected the rural areas in the cause of computer education centres. However, the problem of computer education centres backwardness will continue if nothing is being done to look into these problems.

Also, the strategies for improving this low level of computer education centres in rural areas were looked into and it was discovered that, if the government can provide financial aids and grants to the people and also provide land at designated areas for computer education centres projects this will help in the increase of computer education centres in the rural areas.

CONCLUSION

From the analysis of data, it was found out that the problem facing computer education centres location in rural areas is detrimental to the development of rural areas.

The governments should therefore look into the problems and find possible solutions to the computer education centres backwardness of the rural areas.

Provision of infrastructural amenities such as electricity, water supply, good housing etc in the rural community’s campaign on rural area in the state, the communication gap between the government and the people should be bridged and finally adequate communication network should be provided in the rural areas.

RECOMMENDATION

In the course of this study, the major problem facing the location of computer education centres in Egor were looked into in order to solve these problem, the following suggestions are hereby recommended.

The State Government should ensure to provide infrastructural facilities in the rural areas such as electricity supply, regular water supply, provision of good communication network and good housing.

Secondly, rural urban migration should be discouraged, the government should ensure to provide job opportunities in the rural areas, that is, establishment of computer education centres so as to encourage the youth to stay and work in the rural area.

Thirdly, the government should ensure the development of rural areas by locating computer education centres so as to improve are of land, and enough light.

Fourthly, the government should endeavor to establish information, collection, collation and dissemination centres in both rural and urban areas for market analysis.

Fifthly, the government should enhance rapid machination and renovation of computer education centres throughout the country this will provide more chance in the vocational fields employment and self employment in rural areas.

Finally, there should be resources mobilization for computer education centres location in rural area in Edo State.
