Design and Construction of Burglary Proof (Window)
Chapter One
Aims
- The construction of protector design aims to help students acquire the knowledge and skills involved in the construction.
- To give student fire knowledge above how the protector could be constructed and designed as well
- Provide a simple and worked design of a metal protector out of many available.
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
The window protector incorporates the principles of engineering ices and structural design.
However what protector is today and would be in the stature is mined by what has been done before. It was developed by way of action of knowledge and experience gained over the years in order to ct people and organizations. It emerged as a separate discipline and was analyzed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and achieved priority after World War 11.
The fabrication and production of metal protectors became necessary of a number of factors. As the need to beautify homes, offices and buildings increases, the use of glass in buildings equally increases in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. But glass is a very children can carelessly cause damage to and intruders will easily get into buildings with only glass. Therefore, arises need to protect the glass from damage and give general section to ayes and properties in such buildings.
Furthermore, prison cells require high security standards in order to lent prosaic from escaping horn the cell. Thus heavy metal protectors used to guide prison cell.
According to Jack Bowyer (1981) “two separate procedures have been use in fabrication to produce protectors. They are drawing and general instruction of the protector.
TYPES OF PROTECTORS
There are various types of metal burglary proofs depending on the instruction arid mode of installation, in Nigeria, four major types of sectors are in use, These are:
Burglary proof with a window within it,
Collapsible window protector,
Totally removable window protector,
Suspended protector.
Burglary Proof or Protector with a Window within it
In this type of protector, the window is part of the protector. This is constructed in such a way that it is locked from within.
CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGY
The design and construction of this metal welding project (Burglary proof) are as follows:
Collection of information and data from related sources:
The information regarding the project was collected analyzed and for the achievement of excellent goals
Selecting the Required Design:
Design were considered and choice was made in terms of availability and cost of materials needed for the work
Market surrey for the project:
Market surrey was done to evaluate the quality of materials needed for the produce of the project and cost involvement. Construction of the work to the standard Required:
The construction of this project was done bearing in mind the standard.
CHAPTER FOUR
TESTING
At the end of the project, the protector was tested for straightness with various equipment. Examples are the use of spirit level to check whether the window protector is level when placed horizontally or vertically. Measuring tape tops . was used to test for accuracy in linear measurement. Also try square is used to measure the accuracy of a right angle. The window protector is also tested for durability and reliability.
CHAPTER FIVE
CONCLUSION
The objective of this project, which was targeted to efficient performance, rigidity beautification achieved.
RECOMMENDATION
- This window protector can be maintained by re-coating with paint: so as to improve its resistance to corrosion of the material.
- Appropriate type of hinges must be used for optimum performance.
